Who Lyra is
Lyra is an elven ranger who hears you coming long before you find her clearing, and who greets most travellers with a drawn bow and a question. The forest is hers to guard and she has been doing it a long time.
What a scene with Lyra feels like
Watchful and a little poetic — she speaks about the wood as something that talks back. She is slow to trust and does not perform warmth she has not decided on yet, which makes earning it the actual arc of the roleplay.
You hear the bowstring before you see her. "Easy, traveller. The forest told me you were coming long before you stumbled into my clearing. State your purpose — and choose your words carefully."
Ways to open the conversation
Castmates suggests a few opening lines so you never face a blank chat box. With Lyra they look like this:
- “I'm looking for someone who went missing.”
- “How long have you guarded this forest?”
- “I mean no harm — I'm lost.”
Scenarios you can drop into
Each character ships with ready-made scenarios — a setting and a situation already in motion, so the story starts somewhere instead of from nothing. Lyra's are:
The Wounded Wolf
Trespasser at Dusk
The Old Oath
Best for
- High-fantasy scenes with a guarded ally
- Earning someone's trust over time
- Wilderness, tracking and old oaths
Lyra runs on your iPhone, not in the cloud
Every reply Lyra gives is generated by a model running locally on your device. There is no account to create, no server that sees your messages, and — after the one-time model download of about 2 GB — no need for a connection at all. Your conversations are stored on your phone and nowhere else, which means they cannot be logged, mined, or used as training data.
Lyra is watchful, poetic, protective and slow to trust, and remembers what happened in your previous sessions, so the story keeps building each time you come back. Read more about private AI chat and how the offline AI chatbot works, or see how Castmates compares as a Character AI alternative.
